The FBI started its investigation into the disappearance of Gabby Petito, a 22-year-old woman whose case has captivated America since she first went missing.

According to North Port Police Chief Todd Garrison, who refers to Laundrie as Petito’s fiancée, Petito and Laundrie were planning a cross-country vacation.
They planned to go to the West Coast in Petito’s white Ford van and visit state and national parks across the western United States, according to Garrison at a press conference.
He claims she was eager to share her experience with her family and others on social media.
“She maintained regular contact with her family members during her travels,” the police chief says, “but that communication abruptly ended at the end of August.”

12th of August- Brian laundrie update and Gabby Petito update
On August 12, authorities in Moab Utah saw the pair and described them as having “engaged in some sort of altercation.”
Despite the fact that the two were involved in a physical altercation after an argument, “both the male and female indicated they are in love and engaged to be married and desperately didn’t wish to see anyone prosecuted with a crime,” according to officer Eric Pratt’s report.
Police officers in Moab Utah are seen on body cameras interacting with Brian Laundrie. The couple was separated for the night at authorities’ request, according to the report, which characterises Petito as “confused and emotional.”
Officer Daniel Robbins states in the report, “After assessing the totality of the circumstances, I do not believe the incident progressed to the level of a domestic assault as much as that of a mental health crisis.” There are no charges pending.
According to the article, the pair had their own cell phones in case of an emergency. A caller tells dispatch he wants to report a domestic incident and describes a white van with a Florida licence plate, this is according to a 911 audio tape that was given by the Grand County Sheriff’s Office from that day.
“The gentleman was slapping the girl,” the caller said as they drove by.

17th of August- She travelled from Salt Lake
According to Laundrie family attorney Steven Bertolino, Laundrie travelled from Salt Lake City to Tampa, Florida, on August 17.
Bertolino told CNN that Laundrie “flew home to get some goods and empty and close the storage unit to save money as they mulled extending the road trip.”
“To my knowledge, Brian and Gabby paid for the flights since they were sharing expenditures,” the attorney stated, adding that Laundrie returned to Salt Lake City on August 23 to rejoin Petito.
27th of August- Nina Angelo’s statement
As they were leaving the Merry Piglets Tex-Mex restaurant on August 27, a Louisiana couple vacationing in Jackson, Wyoming, stated they spotted Petito and Laundrie embroiled in a commotion.
Petito was in tears, and Laundrie was extremely angry, according to Nina Angelo, who was at the restaurant with her boyfriend. Laundrie went in and out of the restaurant several times and showed displeasure toward the personnel around the hostess stand. Nina Angelo Instagram
A restaurant manager told CNN on August 27 that she witnessed “an incident” inside the restaurant but refused to give her name or describe what happened, and that the business did not have security video of the incident.
August’s final week of Gabby Petito update
Petito’s relatives told police they last spoke to her in the latter week of August, according to North Port police. Petito is believed to have been in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park prior to that last communication, according to investigators.
Petito family attorney Richard Stafford stated at a press conference in September that the family’s last communication with Petito was on August 30, but that the message they got was not from her. Stafford gives the family a rundown of what happened on September 17:

- On August 24, She FaceTimes her mother to inform her that she is leaving Utah and headed to Wyoming’s Teton Range.
- On August 25, Petito and her mother exchanged many texts. The young woman’s family believes she is in the Tetons.
- On August 27, she and her mother exchanged further texts, during which her family believes she is still in the Tetons.
- Her family receives their final text from Petito on August 30. They don’t believe she wrote the text. “No service in Yosemite,” the notification said, according to Stafford.

In September, a lady claimed she and her boyfriend gave Laundrie a ride on August 29 in Wyoming, and Laundrie claimed he had been camping alone for days while Petito worked on social media posts at their van.

Miranda Baker said she and her boyfriend picked up Laundrie that evening as he was hitchhiking in Colter Bay, Wyoming, in a series of videos shared on TikTok. She stated Laundrie told them he had been camping near the Snake River outside of Grand Teton National Park.

According to Baker, when Laundrie learned that Baker and her partner were driving to Jackson Hole instead of Jackson, he became furious, demanded that the vehicle come to a halt, and got out at the Jackson Dam.
Baker stated that she informed law enforcement about the incident. Baker met with North Port police before publishing the recordings on TikTok, according to CNN.
“It looks that her story is reasonable,” North Port police spokesperson Josh Taylor said. Baker’s accusations have not been independently verified by CNN.
Norma Jean Jalovec, a seasonal Wyoming resident, told CNN that on August 29. She picked up Laundrie at Jackson Lake Dam and drove him to the Spread Creek dispersed camping area. Where Petito’s remains were later discovered.
Brian Laundrie was born on 18 November 1997. He was a Florida man. He is 24 Years Old. His birthday was 18 November. Gabby Petito was born in 1999, and as of 2021 she was 22 years old.
Laundrie informed Jalovec that he and his fiancee had a travel blog, that she was writing on it in their camper at the camping area, and that he had been trekking along the Snake River for a few days. Jalovec said she eventually gave the information to the FBI.
When they arrived at Spread Creek, Jalovec stated she put Laundrie out in front of the campground’s entrance gate. She claimed she offered to take him further a couple of times, but he insisted on being left off at the door. She was then offered gas money by Laundrie, but she declined it.
Jalovec stated she picked him up at approximately 6:15 p.m. just minutes after Baker said Laundrie had left her vehicle.

According to authorities, Laundrie will return to the couple’s North Port house on September 1, where his parents also reside.
A licence plate reader reveals the vehicle exited Interstate 75 into North Port at 10:26 a.m. ET, according to an affidavit attached to a search warrant request.
Petito and Laundrie were travelling in a white automobile. Which was later seized by police at their residence. At a news conference, the police spokesperson ads “there was some material in there” that investigators will look into.

The FBI told that he committed suicide, nobody had killed him. There was no apparent reason fro him to be killed as well. His remains were located in Florida.

He did not go into hiding, instead Brian Laundrie was found dead, and the FBI recovered his remains from a 25,000-acre reserve in Florida. He seemed to have committed suicide.
